DESCRIPTION | A 19th century oil on canvas painting of a figurative group in the style of Bartolome Esteban Murillo. The whole in a carved giltwood frame
Bartolomé Esteban Murillo 1617-1682 was a well known Baroque Spanish artist who specialized in religious subjects and to a less extent, paintings of women and children as depicted in this charming painting of two children eating fruit and a dog to one side. The back of the canvas inscribed “cop. v. Minor.” A small amount of paint is missing to the right hand boy’s face and at the base, close to the frame. We can have this expertly restored if need be. The paint to remainder of the picture is in good order. |
